Nymani Music

Nymani Music is an independent music company and performing ensemble dedicated to producing positive, quality entertainment/edutainment. The Nymani Music Ensemble is led by Dr. Terence and Amanda Elliott. They play a range of music styles including jazz, gospel, soul and hip hop. Their vision is to heal the community through music, education, and inspirational sound healing experiences to lift the mind, body and spirit.

Bios:

Dr. Terence Elliott - Music director, producer, pianist and songwriter.

Dr. Terence Elliott is an accomplished pianist, composer and producer as well as an educator of humanities and music. He earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University and holds a masters degree in creative Arts and a bachelors degree in music and Black Studies from San Francisco State University. He is a retired professor of music in the Contra Costa College District where he has held several positions including Dean of Natural, Applied and Social Sciences, president of the Academic Senate and chair of the African American Studies Department.

His CD's Jazz Nothing But Soul and The Professor: The New Jazz Swing are a welcome blend of straight-ahead and contemporary jazz, with an added mix of R&B and funk.

Amanda Elliott – Lead vocalist and songwriter

Amanda has performed backup and recorded with such notable artists as Patrice Rushen, Michael Henderson and Najee. She displays her vocal and songwriting talent on her solo CD Kissed By A Dove as well as featured tracks on The Professor: The New Jazz Swing and Jazz Nothing But Soul.

Amanda has a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Mary's College and a BA in Creative Arts from San Francisco State University. She is a non-profit professional specializing in community revitalization and development.

Troy Marshall – Lead vocalist, songwriter and percussionist

Troy is an accomplished singer/songwriter and featured vocalist on The Professor: The New Jazz Swing and Jazz Nothing But Soul. He has also performed with notable performers Patrice Rushen and Michael Henderson.

Other featured musicians and performers include, Bass—Richard Ford, Drums—Ramonn Arline, Guitar—Levi Seacer and Saxophone—Dr. Mtafiti Imara

Sunday, October 16, 2022 -- Dr. Terence Elliott and the Nymani Ensemble will take you on a journey through the history of the African American experience through song and story. The event will be at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1106 Alameda de las Palgas, San Carlos, Free to the community.

May 22, 2-3pm Dr. Terence Elliott and Nymani will be performing at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in San Francisco (Van Ness at Clay) Suggested donation $20.00. Previous performance venues include: Yoshi's, Art & Soul Festival, Livermore Wine Festival, Rigger's Loft Winery, Pear Street Bistro, Fenix Bar & Grill as well as other Bay Area and international festivals, clubs, bars and restaurants.
